Captain America and Black Panther Appear in New Marvel Game Set During World War II

Black Panther World War II

Disney & Marvel Games Showcase for today is scheduled to stream at 4 p.m.

The latest unnamed game from Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame is rumoured to be revealed on ET. Captain America and Black Panther will battle Hydra in the Second World War in the Marvel project, which was first reported by MCU Status and later confirmed by Eurogamer, a reputable news outlet.

In October 2021, it was stated that Hennig's newest firm, Skydance New Media, was working on a Marvel project. It was described as a "narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, including an entirely original story and take on the Marvel universe."

According to this latest report, more information will be made public today, including the fact that it would "fight off against the forces of Hydra" and star two of the most adored Marvel characters, Cap America and Black Panther.

Hennig was the creative director of the first three Uncharted games, as well as the story writer for the Legacy of Kain series, and, unforgettably, the designer for 1994's Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City. This certainly aligns with her press release enthusiasm from last year, when she said the project would let her explore "the action, mystery, and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore." (Our emphasis) Hennig was, of course, the creative director on the first

Considering how much more sensitive people are to such depictions now than, say, when Indiana Jones was looting his way through Nazi war crimes, it will be very intriguing to see how the game handles the alternate history stance on the Second World War. Additionally, Cap and T'Challa make an awesome partnership that instantly transports us to the Silver Age of Marvel's comics.

We in the industry refer to this rumour as being "sourced," but we won't have to wait long to find out whether it turns out to be true because it is supported by Eurogamer. Naturally, later today we'll update you on this and everything else that was revealed during the Disney/Marvel webcast.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe winds out its fourth phase with this year's Wakanda Forever, the setting would be an intriguing departure from the larger beast. Phase 5 begins with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania next year and continues through the post-blip, multiverse-invaded present, naming Sam Wilson the new Captain America in 2024. It will be a welcome change if T'Challa is alive in the 1940s in a whole different chronology.
